🧑‍🎨 How to generate consistent AI characters

Character consistency is the hardest thing to get right in AI image work — and the most important. Here's the exact workflow that solves it.

Pick a reference-driven model

Text-to-image alone will not keep a character. Use Nano Banana 2, Flux Kontext or Seedream 4.5 edit — models that treat an uploaded reference as the visual anchor.

Lock ONE hero reference first

Generate or upload the best possible reference of your character in a neutral pose and lighting. This becomes the source of truth for every subsequent shot.

Change only the world

In every follow-up prompt, describe the environment, action or mood — never re-describe the character. 'Same character on a rain-soaked Tokyo street at night, neon reflections, medium shot.' The reference does the identity work.

Batch the whole series in one session

Consistency drops when you switch models or come back next week. Generate the full 10-shot series in one sitting with the same reference and seed strategy.
